Spartanburg
County / District South Carolina – Albert Bruce Pruitt
Deed
abstracts, Books A-T 1785-1827 (1752-1827)
"The
deeds in this book were recorded in books from about 1785 to 1827. The money
changed hands from 1752 to 1827. Only a few transactions between 1752 and about
1774 are recorded. During this period, the state line was indeterminate...some
transactions may have been recorded in North Carolina, "As would be
expected, most of the land described is in present day Spartanburg and Cherokee
Counties. Some land is in Union Co. which was, for a time, part of Spartanburg
Dist. Also, there is land on the boundary between Spartanburg and Union or
Greenville Counties. However, for some reason, there are also a few deeds for
land in North Carolina (primarily Rutherford County), Tennessee and
Georgia"--Foreword, 2nd prelim. page.
